What is the Full Form of SMPS ?

SMPS - Switched-Mode Power Supply

Switched-Mode Power Supply, also known as Switching Mode Power Supply, is a Power supply unit (PSU) commonly used in computers to convert the voltage into computer acceptable range of power. The device incorporates power handling electronic components that converts electrical power efficiently. Switched-Mode Power Supply offer a greater power conversion and reduce the overall power loss.

How does SMPS work
The device uses switching regulators that switches the load current on and off to control and stabilize the output voltage. The average of the voltage between the off and on produces the desired power for a device. The pass transistor of SMPS switches between low dissipation, full-on and full-off mode, and spends very less time in the high-dissipation transitions, which minimizes wasted energy.
