DSL - Digital Subscriber Line

Digital Subscriber Line is a high speed connection line that provides internet connectivity (256 kbps or above) using the same wires as a regular telephone line. With the help of Digital Subscriber Line, data transfer and telephone conversation can be done simultaneously.

A DSL Modem is required at the customer's end to layout the network, which is provided by the company offering the service.

Advantage of DSL
Digital Subscriber Line provides more that 50 times of the speed provides by dial up modems and over 10 folds the speed provided by ISDN connection. The use of different frequencies for encoding of data results in much faster data rate.
