What is the Full Form of ITBP?

ITBP - Indo-Tibetan Border Police

Indo-Tibetan Border Police (भारत-तिब्बत सीमा पुलिस बल, in Hindi) is one of the border security forces of India that guards the border of the country, from Karakoram Pass in Ladakh to Jachep La in  Arunachal Pradesh covering 3488 km of Indo-China Border. The force was first raised in 1962 after the Sino-Indian war.

Most of the ITBP officers and constables are professionally trained mountaineers and skiers as they guard the border located at an altitude ranging  from 9000 feet to 18700 feet. Apart from border protection, they also carry out numerous relief and rescue operations at the time of natural  disasters.

ITBP is headquartered in News Delhi with its major training center located at Mussoorie, in Uttarakhand. 

How to join ITBP
The Recruitment in ITBP is done through a written test followed by a physical test, a medical examination and an interview. The force recruits candidates at four levels - Constable, Head Constable, Sub Inspector and the Assistant Commandant. Each post has its own eligibility  criteria.
